Seattle Designer Spotlight: KFLY

This post is not sponsored. I just love supporting my local fashion designers.

It’s no secret I admire the talent of the small-batch fashion designers I find at Sassafras in Seattle. This week, I’m excited to swing the spotlight to KFLY, a brand known for its inclusive, reversible dress designs.

Katy, pictured below in her maxi bamboo dress, is the designer behind KFLY. She came up with her universally flattering dresses after spending years making clothes for herself and others she knew.

Katy wants to celebrate every body shape with her dresses–from extra small to 3X, from petite to tall. She offers maxis, minis, and fit and flare styles. There’s a length and cut for everyone.

Two-Ways, Four-Ways, Inside-Out

All KFLY dresses and tops are reversible. Some are lined and can be worn in four different ways. Two-way or four, each dress or top features a cowl neck and crewneck that can be worn front or back.

The cowl worn on the front is a draped plunge on me.

Reverse the cowl to the back for a dramatic drape from behind. The front, then, becomes a crewneck. No matter which side is put front or back, KFLY dresses are cut to cover bra straps.

Below, two KFLY models demonstrate how the dress looks from behind when reversed from one side to the other.

All Seasons and Occasions

I own two KFLY dresses. Perhaps you remember my post from last year when I wore my floral KFLY midi out on “safari”:

I wear my KFLY’s year-round, layering with leggings, sweaters, and jackets.

Although I already have two KFLY dresses as well as a KFLY top, I’m planning to purchase a third in the mini bamboo style to round out my wardrobe.

These dresses are so comfortable I wear them casually and for special occasions. In addition, they pack down tiny for travel and don’t wrinkle. Three dresses are nearly a week’s worth of outfits, all of which easily fit in a tote bag!

Want More KFLY?

KFLY designs come in a variety of dresses as featured above, but Katy has also designed tops and, new this year, skirts! She is happy to customize any of her designs for a perfect fit and for any occasion. A friend of mine wore a beautiful floral maxi dress for her wedding!

What a wonderful dress, and I love the back-to-front variations, Sherry. It’s a true wardrobe-expander. And how exciting that you support local designers (I remember our festive visit to Sassafras!). xox

  2. I’m delighted with your choice of colour. It looks so wonderfully rich.

    Nothing like supporting small manufacturers.

    1. Thank you, Suzanne. So true about supporting small businesses and creators. Honestly, if all we did was shop from local makers, local economies would benefit and some of our environmental problems would be lessened.

  3. How interesting that these dresses can be worn in different ways, which basically makes it two (or four) for the price of one. I was thinking these would be perfect for travelling, and then you mentioned it yourself! I’m loving the deep violet of the one you’re wearing here, and I’m applauding you for supporting local designers. xxx

    1. Thank you, Ann! Since getting to know Katy and her designs, I’ve come to see her as much of an engineer as she is an artist. She’s just a genius coming up with a style that works on so many different body types, is reversible, and packable! 💕
