PO40 Playlist for May

Each day on Instagram Stories, I post a photo of my morning’s view to wish the world “Good Morning from Seattle.” Along with the photo, I add a snippet of a song. Most of the time I wake up with these songs in my head or they arrive during the day and stick around. Sometimes I hear a song and love it so much I have to share it that day. This creates a most eclectic mixtape when all the songs are put together in my monthly playlists on Spotify.

You Say Playlist, I Say Soundtrack

May’s playlist has quite a few oldies, though it’s hard to believe these are “oldies.” The Reflex by Duran Duran, Rosanna by Toto, and Let the River Run by Carly Simon are three that fall into this category. Some are songs that were around before I started choosing my own music. They served as a soundtrack to my youth: The Rose by Bette Midler, Strangers in the Night by Frank Sinatra, and my mom’s favorite, Neil Diamond. In this case, it’s Cracklin’ Rosie.

In addition to the old songs, there are some newer releases by Black Violin, Juanes, and my latest obsession, Alex Cuba. There are even a couple of songs I don’t like that much but they showed up in my head, so they got posted. I won’t tell you which ones those are because I want you to enjoy the playlist.

Turn Up the Volume and Sing Along!

With that little introduction, I hope you’ll give it a listen. And don’t forget to sing along if you know the lyrics.
