Truffle Hunting with a Dog!

Seattle blogger, Sherry Dryja from Petite Over 40, poses with her husband next to the hood of a silver car. In between Sherry and her husband is a towel laden with black truffles from the woods in the Pacific Northwest.

Those aren’t bear poops on the hood of that car. They’re genuine dog-hunted black truffles from the fertile grounds of this here Pacific Northwest! 🌲⛰ Yes, ma’am, we went truffle hunting with Truffle Dog Company and, after more than 2 miles tromping around the woods with Gator-the-dog, we had about 2 pounds worth of beautiful-smelling truffles! My favorite part was watching Gator do his thing. He lives for this work! ️ Scroll through the photos to see Gator and our human guide, Erica in action! 🐕

  1. What a cool thing to do! I didn’t even know they had truffles near you. Looks like you made quite the haul. That’d be some big bucks.

    1. We have black truffles around here and, in some places, the coveted white truffles. Apparently the two smell differently so they have to train dogs to find both! My take-away from the whole thing–I love dogs even more than I did before.

    1. You would have loved it, Jude! It was really fun to watch Gator do his thing. And, yes! He is a Brittany Spaniel!
