Elegant, Practical Style from Seattle

Red wrap top and peach palazzo pants paired with cream-colored vintage boots. Outfit brand is Ligne, designed by Tanu Priya Singh of Seattle.

Back in August, Sassafras posted on Facebook and Instagram inviting fans to the unveiling of Ligne, a new brand by up-and-coming Seattle designer Tanu Singh.

Tanu Singh's brand Ligne was featured in a showcase at Sassfras in Seattle.

This is how I responded:

When I got there, I fell head over heels for this outfit:

It’s hard to believe something so elegant can actually be practical too, but I ain’t lyin’ when I say this is one of the most comfortable outfits in my closet now. The top is gauzy soy cotton and the trousers are silk. Both are made by Tanu to fit my body perfectly….

Even after I do a twirl and it all continues to float around me like a dream:

Look! I can sit like a lady and the waistband doesn’t cut into my belly!

Or I can manspread in heels and nobody’s gonna see what I got underneath! (Watch out for the tip of that heel, though! OUCH!)

Throw on a jacket and I’m ready for fall!

Oh yeah! And pockets! The trouser’s have pockets! So important for us city dwellers who like to keep our building keys close by.

  1. PO40 Productions is BORN!!! Right on, Sherry! I love your video! This is a great woman-of-action story for Tanu Singh and Sassafras. That must have been fun to make. And this outfit is amazingly dreamy. So 20s and yet so now. I adore those trousers, the colour and the cut. Your quip about the heels cracked me up.

    1. Thank you, Mel! I’ve since posted another video to my YouTube which I hope to share here another time. But if you want a preview, head on over to PO40’s YouTube channel! 🙂 More soon. <3

  2. Hi! Saw your post on Patti’s linkup! Your post made me so very nostalgic for Seattle – I lived there on and off all through the 90s and into the early 2000s! LOVE that leather jacket from Suzanne’s shop!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Kristen! Seattle is a great place to live and be nostalgic about. You and I overlapped our time in the Emerald City–I moved here in 1999, then moved away, then came back because my nostalgia won the coin toss. Cheers for Seattle and Suzanne’s awesome jackets!

  3. What a great look. No wonder you fell in love. I like that the top and bottoms both have volume, yet don’t overwhelm you. The floaty silk is divine. You’ve dressed them up and down so well–and lovely photo backgrounds!

    1. Thank you, Kimberly! I sincerely appreciate you stopping by and sharing your comments. ❤️

OMG, Sherry, you have knocked the ball out of the park and into the next county. This look is so YOU, the colors, the unexpected shape, the swoon-worthy white Docs. And I loved how quickly you covered most of the globe, you go girl. xox

    1. Thank you, Patti! I think we both would traverse the globe for a truly original look. ❤️

  5. What a fabulously sassy outfit. Add good for twirling and pockets, and it’s a winner. Loved the little video! xxx

    1. Thank you, Ann! 😀

  6. Oh what a perfect post, perfect photos and perfect outfit. If I had your figure I would order the same things immediately. Alas I am 5ft74 and have a reversed triangle shape. So not wise. I need to find a blogger with my size, height, shape and taste. Would be so useful. Had I lived near you I would have checked out this designer for sure.

    1. Thank you, Greetje! Reverse triangle–what styles look best on you? Somehow I think the pleated palazzos would look nice on your body–maybe with a less flowy top?–but you know your body type best! If you ever find yourself in Seattle, add Sassafras to the top of your list. They have something there for every body type and it’s all locally made by human beings you can shake hands with and talk to. They also have an online store you can shop and I think they ship internationally, but I don’t know what the shipping costs would be.

      1. A jacket fitted at the waist looks best in me. I had a look round on the site of this fab brand. Like you I would love to buy deom them. But indeed shipping cost and custom fees are very high. Which I might overcome. But if I have to send it back it is really too much. So I stopped buying outside of Europe. Very sustainable.

        1. I know what you mean about buying internationally. It’s tough. Set aside the cost–which can be prohibitive–you still have the wait time and customs to contend with. Europe is the only place to get REALLY COOL tights, the kind of tights that have fantastic designs on them. But I hesitate to buy them because of cost and time. I don’t know why there isn’t a North American tight company that has cool designs.

Thanks for checking out Sassafras even if purchasing isn’t much of an option. It means a lot you would take the time to check them out.

  7. This outfit is so classy chic! The colour combo and the swish-factor are off the chart!

You can tell you truly love the outfit and pieces. This kind of clothing will never go out of style.

Your videos always put a smile on my face. : P

    1. Thank you, Suzanne! I think my eyes grew six sizes the day I went to Sassafras to look at Tanu’s designs. I wanted all of them but my pocketbook could only afford the one.

  8. Marilee J. Gramith says:

This look is elegant and dramatic with comfy, freshly funky leanings. The color combination is reminiscent of a ripe peach and really pretty with your complexion and blue eyes Sherry. Adding the leather jacket and white combat boots suggest a trend toward unexpected combinations. I hope you’ll wear this look for a holiday party!

    1. I’m heading to Arizona in December, Marilee, and this outfit will be the perfect thing for holiday gatherings! Your description of “ripe peach” is exactly how I see it as well.
