They say the sun is setting on Seattle’s summer. And here I’ve just discovered my favorite summer dress—the Montavilla by Sew House Seven. I made it using vintage silk fabric from CircaFabrics. And now I’m looking out the window hoping for a few more summery days.

Paper Bag Waist Breaks the Rules with a Zen-like Glee
There is something about a paper bag waist that intrigues me. Maybe it’s because it’s a rule-breaker. To create a paper bag waist, I scrunch a bunch of fabric around the smallest part of my waist and cinch it there with a belt. It creates bulk in a place I usually try to make look smaller. And yet, here I am, wearing pants with a paper bag waist.
Striped Overalls and Butterflies
Slipping into my striped overalls fresh off the sewing machine, I steal a button-down butterfly shirt from Hubby’s closet and throw on a pair of old boots. I’m Feelin’ Good.
