They say the sun is setting on Seattle’s summer. And here I’ve just discovered my favorite summer dress—the Montavilla by Sew House Seven. I made it using vintage silk fabric from CircaFabrics. And now I’m looking out the window hoping for a few more summery days.
You read that right. A few weeks ago, just as the sun was starting to hum songs of summer, I pieced together a pair of shorts from two different sets of cloth napkins.
Whenever my talent agent contacts me with an opportunity to work as an extra, she reminds me to update my online casting portfolio with current headshots. As a fashion blogger, I have lots of current photos, but nothing like professional headshots. That is, until now.
Here in Seattle, we’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing all summer with a special exhibit called “Destination Moon” at the Museum of Flight.
There is something about a paper bag waist that intrigues me. Maybe it’s because it’s a rule-breaker. To create a paper bag waist, I scrunch a bunch of fabric around the smallest part of my waist and cinch it there with a belt. It creates bulk in a place I usually try to make look smaller. And yet, here I am, wearing pants with a paper bag waist.
Slipping into my striped overalls fresh off the sewing machine, I steal a button-down butterfly shirt from Hubby’s closet and throw on a pair of old boots. I’m Feelin’ Good.
