Keeping VIP Company at the Nordic Museum

Seattle blogger, Sherry Dryja of Petite Over 40, poses next to a wooden statue of the Nordic god Odin at the Nordic Museum in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

Nothing like rubbing shoulders with the Nordic All-Father, Odin, on a regular Saturday. 😎 You, too, can keep such deific company at the Nordic Museum in Ballard while learning lots about Vikings and the cool peeps of Scandinavia!

My necklace, by the way, traces its roots to a Nordic part of the US—Minnesota! With thanks to friend and blogger fan-babe, Jude, for gifting it to me when we met a couple of years ago. ️

I would not want to meet this guy in a dark alley, but I must admit his ancient style has held up well!
Replica of a Viking boat on exhibit at the Nordic Museum in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.
This is a replica of a Viking boat. I believe it was used as a burial for Vikings. It would carry the body and all their worldly possessions into Valhalla.
7th Century Viking glass on exhibit at the Nordic Museum in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.
Seventh Century Viking glass that has held up all these years. Anyone else impressed by the coordination of these Vikings? I.e., how many glasses have you broken recently?

A Viking era scale with weights. I just loved how they displayed this.

  1. What a fascinating museum! I absolutely love how the displays are laid out. Those scales and weights almost look like a work of art. And that’s a stunning necklace you’re wearing. How apt that originates from a Nordic part of the US. xxx

    1. It really is a great museum, Ann! It left me filled to the brim with new knowledge but also with new questions. I love it when that happens. 💕

Very cool Saturday adventure! I’m sure the necklace brought good karma/vibes whilst viewing Viking artifacts. Don’t you just love the word VALHALLA?!

    1. I think you’re right, Jude! Odin definitely approved. 🙂 And I DO love the word VALHALLA!
