It’s that time again when the ladies from JTouchofStyle and I pool our memories and photos to create a Fab Collab that spans the generations. Since it’s springtime, we’re diving into the sweet tradition of pastels in Spring. Over this coming week we’ll share style-memories from our past as well as ways we style these colors today.
As many of you know, each of us “Fab Collabers” was born in a different decade: Charlotte is in her 70s, Nancy is in her 60s, Jodie is in her 50s, and I am in my 40s. As a result, our memories offer quite a range of fashion history!
My story kicked off the Fab Collab on Monday and yesterday was Jodie’s turn. Today Nancy shares her history with pastels, along with how she styles them today. Be sure to stop back by on Friday to see what Charlotte has in store!
Below is a peek of the week so far and a little glimpse of Charlotte’s outfit to come!
An excerpt from Nancy’s history with pastels:
As a young girl, I never wanted to wear pastels, particularly pink, because it was too ‘girly’ and I did not want to be seen as a ‘girly girl’. I didn’t play with dolls but I also didn’t play with trucks. I liked playing jacks, jump roping and roller skating. Then as a teenager I was asked to be in a fashion show by my neighbor who had a dress shop. Guess what color the dress was that I wore? PINK!! I loved it. As time went on, I also noticed that people complimented me when ever I had on shades of pink or other pastels. So I began to change my color scheme.
I now love to wear pink, especially the rose shade! I even have trouble getting rid of my pink items when they are out of style or worn. Somehow they are just special to me. These particular pictures makes me smile because the people with me in them bring me such joy. They are 5 of my high school girlfriends from Indiana and we call ourselves the LaLa’s!

First—I just noticed your new title of your site—and I love it!!
And secondly…thanks for all the time you put into our collab, Sherry! I would have never come up with this idea on my own, but it has been perfect beyond belief!!
